Do you know that too? You like to eat. Too much. And after eating, you almost always crave something sweet. Chocolate, for example. And cake. Or cookies. For some people, this becomes a habit. Unfortunately! At least in this case. Because habits can also be a very good thing. Just not always.
A habit is something that we cultivate through constant repetition and then simply do. Without giving it much thought. Fully automatically, so to speak.
And what does science have to say about this? According to science, our first five to ten years of life provide the best neurobiological conditions for learning. In this respect, habits are formed particularly easily and quickly during these years.
That's why it's a great thing when a mother rewards her child again and again for good behavior in the early years. Ideally with praise. However, parents tend to reward their children too often and too quickly with something that their children love even more than any praise: sweets.
These and other habits stay with us for years to come. We buy ourselves sweets as a reward. Also to comfort ourselves. But ultimately always to make us feel better. A mistake, don't you think? Especially when it comes to sweets and therefore sugar.
Because sugar can harm us and our bodies. That's why you shouldn't hold on to such negative habits. Simply replace them with new, positive ones. And it's easier than you think. Despite all the inconveniences and frustrations along the way.
And at some point you can replace the chocolate with an apple.
The recipe for success is the smallest activities and behaviors. These are also known as mini-habits, the constant repetition of which leads to long-term success. Ideally, they should not be particularly difficult to implement so that you enjoy doing them frequently. For example, you could resolve to only eat half as many sweets after a meal. Instead of a bar of chocolate, only half of it. Later, only a quarter. And at some point you can replace the chocolate with an apple. In this way, you gradually get closer and closer to your goal. And the best thing about it: anyone can do it. At your own pace. You just have to keep at it.
So it's in your own hands.
Stay tuned!
