HOW IS INFUSED WATER PREPARED?

Basically, preparing an infused water is super simple: 1 handful of ingredients + 1 liter of water + 1 hour infusion time. Your flavored water is ready!

And this is how you prepare your infused water:

  1. Always wash ingredients such as fruit and vegetables thoroughly
  2. Cut fruit and vegetables into slices or pieces
  3. Place 1 handful in a container with herbs and spices
  4. Pour 1 liter of still or sparkling water over the ingredients
  5. Leave to infuse in the fridge for at least 1 hour

Here are a few tips for your infused water:

Tip 1: You should always peel ingredients that are not organically grown before cutting them, as there may still be harmful substances in their peel. Ideally, you should completely avoid conventionally grown fruit and vegetables for your flavored water. It's worth it!

Tip 2: Some ingredients contain bitter substances. For example, the peel of citrus fruits contains essential oils that can taste slightly bitter in your infused water. By using the fruit and vegetables without the peel, you prevent their bitter substances from passing into the water. This makes your infused water taste a little sweeter. However, we would like to point out that bitter substances in themselves are good for you. They promote your digestion and increase fat burning, as well as strengthening your immune system and relaxing you.

Tip 3: You should always squeeze fruits with a closed cell structure (e.g. raspberries and blueberries) to break up the cell structure before adding them to the water. This won't necessarily make your infused water prettier, but it will make it taste more intense.

Tip 4: The smaller you cut your ingredients, the larger their surfaces will be. And the larger their surfaces are, the more flavor they can release into your infused water. Nevertheless, we recommend cutting your fruit and vegetables into thin slices that are as large as possible. This will make it easier for you to clean your container later.

Tip 5: Sparkling water shortens the infusion time and boosts the taste. However, to ensure that your infused water still has enough bubbles after its infusion time, you should only add half a liter of sparkling water to your ingredients first, leave it to infuse and only then top it up with a second half liter of sparkling water. For the necessary fizz in your infused water.

Tip 6: To keep your flavored water cool and refreshing for longer on hot summer days, you can add a few ice cubes. But remember: it's better for your stomach to drink the water at room temperature.

Tip 7: In addition to a carafe or jug, a bottle with a large opening (e.g. a milk bottle) is also suitable for preparing infused water. You can also pour the ingredients straight into a water bottle. This gives you maximum flexibility and you can take your water with you wherever you go. And for all the perfectionists among you, there are also special bottles with a built-in strainer for the ingredients so that they don't slip into the glass with the water when pouring. Isn't it amazing what's available?
